On November 15th, a group of our leaders from CCCM gathered to attend the Global Leadership Summit together! The GLS is an annual event that equips hundreds of thousands of curious, growth-minded leaders around the world each year through the sharing of key insights, fresh ideas, and heartfelt inspiration.
Throughout the day, we listened to talks from a number of inspirational world-class level leaders. Although they all spoke from very different perspectives and are experts from different fields of leadership, I found that they all share the same common thread of message: Focus.
One of the speakers, Christine Caine, spoke about the challenge of "drift" - the tendency to lose sight of what's most important when we are swimming through the pressure of too many tasks and ideas, the pressure other's opinions, or our own criticisms of the people we work with. I think a lot of us (myself included!) tend to be very ambitious leaders who want to achieve many things for our community, and we tend to dip our fingers into many ideas at the same time. But when we try to chase and catch so many ideas, opinions and projects all at once, are we really able to focus on the one thing that should be our top priority? Christine reminded us to remember to "look up" and focus on the WHY. To remember that that work we are doing in our community, is ultimately for God. And perhaps when we are anchored in God's love and direction, we are able to focus on the one thing that He is guiding us to achieve.
The opportunity to connect with the other CCCM leaders on the day was also immensely valuable. Through meaningful conversations and group reflections, we were able to be inspired by leaders who we may not have had the chance to get to know before, and be reminded that none of us are alone in our journeys. Through these conversations, prayer and music, I was definitely feeling more recharged, and is now excited to continue my journey as a leader with God alongside me!
“It was an eye-opening event with the expressive Lego structures. It revealed many possibilities. There, I saw the real connection of each group in doing God's work by seeking out or offering each other's talent and willingness to help. Understanding each group's potential and bringing the faith home to members and their family and friends, awesome 400 is coming soon.”—— Lucy
